The flooding of 2024. Many areas in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas saw a lot of rain within the week of April 1, 2024. The week of April 1, 2024, much of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas was dealing with flooding. Many Pittsburgh rivers crested at or near major flood stage. This rain that fell across Western Pennsylvania was record rainfall. Many people dealt with houses flooding, rivers at peak, and even landslides. The Ohio River in Pittsburgh had crested 28.37 feet, just shy of the major flood stage mark at 28.37 feet. The river level was at its highest point in two decades.
Although, the 2024 flooding as we all know had some major damage throughout Western Pennsylvania. Some places saw more than others, but with work and help, people made it through and everything was back to normal.
