It is said that the French government has banned TikTok on the island of New Caledonia to prevent riots.
France’s Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, shut down TikTok as part of a state emergency. That shut down included deployments to the army and a curfew on the island. Protesters blew up earlier in the week when French lawmakers passed a draft law. The draft law allow all citizens who were on the island for more than 10 years to vote in local elections. Lots of people argued that the law weakened the representation of indigenous people.
