How to Handle Conflicts- Molly Grandel

High school teaches the lesson of how to handle conflict in a more effective way.

Molly Grandel has been involved in some type of conflict in her high school career and she feels there is no good that can come from it. “Yes, I have had conflicts with other classmates. After having the conflicts, I usually realized a day or so later there was no real need for it. Half the time, the conflict causes unneeded drama.” She understands you may not always get along with people, but you should deal with it in a peaceful manner. Verbal disagreements do not get you anywhere.

We all have had a teacher we do not necessarily get along with. Sometimes people just cannot find common ground. If we have ever argued with a teacher, we normally lose and get in trouble. Regardless of if we like them, we have to show respect our superiors. You do not have to like everyone, you just have to respect them.

Molly realizes that arguing is not an effective way of getting a point across. “Arguments cause pointless drama, that is ultimately not worth it. You can’t make someone who is highly opinionated change their mind. In the end, you’re going to believe what you want, and they are going to believe what they want.” She doesn’t feel the need to be always right and argue why her beliefs are the right ones. She understands everyone thinks differently, and it is better to just accept this.

High school puts you in the position of conflict often. How you choose to handle it is up to you. Ultimately, dealing with it by coming to a mutual understanding is best.
