Description of Fall – Molly Grandel

A season is a division of the year, marked by changes in weather, ecology, and hours of daylight. Right now we just transitioned from summer to autumn. Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter.  In autumn the temperature cools a lot, the trees start to shed their leaves, and it gets darker earlier. In autumn, the leaves start to change color. They change to reds, yellows, and browns and they start to fall off of the trees. That is why autumn is also referred to as fall. Trees start to spread their seeds like Acorns and pinecones. They fall off of the trees in autumn so new trees can start to grow in the spring.  In autumn, the weather also starts to get cooler. We start to wear boots, scarves, long pants, and sweaters. We begin to drink coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. In autumn, we have thanksgiving dinner. Pumpkins are ready to pick and you can make pumpkin pies. We can also pick a pumpkin for Halloween to carve into a jack o lantern. Some sports start in autumn and go through the winter, and some sports come to an end as well.
