Black Friday Reflection- Victoria Conti

Black Friday shopping is the day of the year where Americans go crazy for the “amazing deals” that come to our nation’s stores. The new question that is being brought up is that of if Black Friday now starting on Thanksgiving Day is taking away from the holiday? There is no arguing against the fact it is taking some toll on the holiday we are supposed to be spending with our family. People are actually lining up a week before Black Friday, and missing out on Thanksgiving. It is my personal opinion that stores should not allow this, and that they should also not be open until midnight after Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving traditions are being taken away and being replaced by people just trying to get a bargain on some sort of material item. It is important to remember that getting these deals should come second to the holiday, and should we really be missing out on spending that time with our families. The rush on Black Friday has taken away from the spirit of Thanksgiving. It seems that people are more excited for that than the actual holiday. We really have to ask ourselves why the stores can’t just open on midnight, or why we can’t just wait to go shopping. The deals are not going anywhere,  but you are missing on the time you could be spending with loved ones.
