The Summer Contingency
Summer, one of those long breaks that many students cannot wait for especially those seniors who are going to be out on their own, technically speaking. Summer can mean many things for upperclassmen, many of which are going to be staring a summer job. Summer Jobs help those coming back next year and those graduating by giving them a taste of the real world and more opportunities of responsibility. Summer lasts about 3 months, in those 3 months so much can be done, and a lot can be learned. Summer is one of those things that changes a student mentally, when students come back from summer break they are usually more prepared and mature than the previous year.
During the break many students celebrate the end of another (hopefully) successful year with a vacation. Those that are graduating may go out with a big party over the summer or trip to some vacation spots. The middle of the summer is usually the best time to go for most students. There are so many opportunities for enjoyment over the summer, from amusement parks, beaches, and concerts; although money may be an issue for those that are more independent with driver’s licenses and such. That is why many students around the beginning of the summer apply for summer jobs, with more money, more events can be attended such as purchasing tickets for concerts and amusement parks.
In this area alone there are 30 amusement parks in a close vicinity within the states of Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland. In Pennsylvania alone there are 14 major amusement parks. Amusement parks are a must for everyone, even for those who do not like to ride extreme rides; the atmosphere is enough just to bring amusement to anyone. Even if you have not been to an amusement park or been on thrill seeking roller coasters, it is well worth a try for everyone after all, summer is a student’s time to have fun and move school thoughts to temporary storage.
If your thing is not amusement parks there are many places close that offer many water related activities. If kayaking, fishing, swimming, or anything in between is your cup of tea; there are plenty of places nearby that offer such. Lake Erie, Virginia Beach and Ocean City are just some of these beach front type locations that offer a copious amount of activities, so much so that there is something for everybody. Summer is in full swing, time to get back out there and do something to make the rest of this summer memorable.
