The students of SADD will be competing in the annual driving competition on March 23. This is the first round of the competition that is actually statewide, and it tests students on multiple aspects of their driving skills.

The first portion of the test is the physical driving part. This part puts a student’s stopping, turning, and parallel parking skills to the test. The more precise and skillful the maneuvers, the better the score for the student. The next portion is the intangible test that will ask students questions on their driving knowledge. There are about forty to fifty questions that you could potentially see on a standard permit test. The third and final portion of the test is the most unique part, that being the perceptual driving portion. In this part, students are shown slides for only a number of seconds. The students need to evaluate the surroundings in the scene as quickly as they can, then they are asked to answer three true or false questions on each slide.

This is one of the more unique and interesting monthly meetings that the club will attend all year. As well as meetings, the club continues to remind students to refrain from dangerous decisions in not only their driving, but their everyday life.
