Sports Betting
Sports betting is something that happens all over the USA. Millions of dollars every year are won and lost by gamblers. Sports betting is the most popular form of gambling for the ages 14-22.
Sports betting could possibly be a big money for the country. They could tax the betting. There could be state taxes on the betting that varies from state to state and bring in the state money. This is a big reason why it should be legal.
Almost all the sports fans in the country either participate in sports betting or sports betting should be used as taxable income. It is obviously something that is always gonna happen if it is legal or not. It would just be a big opportunity for states to bring in tax money.
Delaware, Montana, Nevada, and Oregon are the only states to have some sort of legal sports betting. Nevada has the most lenient rules allowing people to bet on single games or competitions.
Almost a quarter of males bet on sports in an average month. According to an ESPN survey, about 118 million Americans gambled on sports in some manner in 2008. About 67% of all college students bet on sports. Sports betting is second to poker in gambling amongst college students.
Sports betting should be legalized in all states not just to give people opportunity to win money, but for states to collect taxes off of it. Everyone knows how much money is bet on sports and just maybe the states could put the money to good use.
In conclusion, It would be an overall good idea to legalize sports betting. This is because it could benefit both the people of the USA and the country.
