Michael Mullen – Athlete Biography
Michael Mullen is a senior and a member of the football team.
Mullen plays both offensive and defensive tackle; he has played these positions since he began football in his junior year. He began to play once his friends finally convinced him to join. Mullen sports the number 70. Mullen looks forward to playing Avella this year since he usually gets more playing time.
Mullen’s favorite professional athlete is Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers and has looked up to him since he was a child. “He inspires me to become a better football player and to work hard,” said Mullen.
Mullen will not continue to play football after this year, but he does plan to come back and keep watching JM play. Mullen stated that these last two years of football have been the best years of his life; he regrets not playing sooner. He has many fond memories from just the last two seasons.
“I really enjoyed beating Mapletown for Agnew last year.” Last year Josh Agnew, who is now graduated, was seriously injured in the game against Mapletown. The Rockets went on to win that game.
Mullen has learned a lot since he began to play football. His coaches are constantly trying to help the team get better by working together and giving to your all 100% of the time. He said that his uncle, who has played for the Rockets when he went to school, and Coach D’Antonio have taught him life lessons through football.
“Playing football has taught me how to work with others as a team and to have fun while still working hard.”
After graduation, Mullen plans to go straight to work.
