Shelby Burkett is a junior and a member of the rifle team.

Burkett has been a member of the team since freshman year. She said she has many fond memories since joining. One reason why she joined was because of her friends who all participate and encouraged her to join.

“I have friends who encouraged me to do it.”

Burkett looks up to Coach Rich and her friends on the team who encouraged her to join. She wants to keep improving her shooting. She hopes to letter this year.

When asked what she wished that she would’ve known before joining the team, Burkett replied, “I wish I would have known it was hard.

Burkett was admittedly surprised that being a part of the rifle team would be such a challenge. Even though she doesn’t practice in the off season, Burkett acknowledged that the sport takes more time than she thought.

“When asked what her goals are this season, Burkett replied, “To letter or shoot 100’s at matches.”
