Payton Wright is a junior and a member of the varsity softball team.

Wright has been playing softball since kindergarten and this is her third year on the varsity team; she is a starting player as the third baseman. Wright’s love for the sport inspires her to play to her full potential.

“I love playing softball, it is something I have done since I was little and it is something all my sisters were able to bond over,” said Wright. “I love the name of the game and being out there with my best friends is something I love,” added Wright.

Although Wright is an experienced player is there no doubt that she has more room to improve. Wright practices both during softball season and during the off season.

“My favorite thing I get from the game is the adrenaline rush, I just love the intensity of the game,” said Wright. “I am really looking forward to playing Mapletown because if we win we will be 2nd in our section and it would make my father so proud. He is my inspiration in everything especially softball, so I am praying we accomplish that,” added Wright. “Not to mention Mapletown is the team that is mot like us and will really give us a run for our money,” added Wright.

Wright focuses on not making mistakes and always looks at her strengths. Her coaches are always lending a helping hand during practice.

“I would say my biggest strengths are that I am a great batter,” said Wright. “I am not very fast when running bases so that kind of holds me back,” added Wright. “My coaches are intense and help me grow stronger every day.”

Teammates are always play an important part during games and Wright is very thankful that she came into such a great team.

“They’re always laughing and making the bus rides such a joyful thing,” Wright said. “I couldn’t ask for a better team, they support me, scream and cheer for me, teach me new things, and have just became such an amazing part of my life,” added Wright. “Although I love my team one thing we do need to improve on though is how much we talk,” said Wright. “It distracts us.”

The lady Rockets are looking forward to having an amazing season and giving the seniors a great goodbye.
