The NFL free agency has officially started. Free Agency is the time period when all the players that aren’t currently on a team. It gives the teams the opportunity to sign whoever is within their cap space.
After explaining what Free Agency is about let’s talk about what players went where. The first major signing was from the San Francisco 49ers after signing Javoon Hargrave to a 4 year 84 million dollar contract. Hargrave position is a defensive tackle (DT). The Denver Broncos signed offensive tackle (OT) Mike McGlinchey to a 5 year 87.5 million dollar contract. The Las Vegas Raiders signed quarterback (QB) Jimmy Garopppolo to a 3 year 67.5 million dollar contract. The Carolina Panthers signed safety Von Bell and tight end Hayden Hurst. Arguably the biggest signing so far was the Atlanta Falcons signing safety Jessie Bates to a 4 year 64 million dollar contract. They also signed quarterback Taylor Henicke. The Chicago Bears signed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a 4 year 72 million dollar contract. A lot more players were signed. For example Jimmie Ward to the Texans, Eric Kendricks to the Chargers, Patrick Peterson to the Steelers, Allen Lazard to the Jets, and David Montgomery to the Lions.
Let’s talk about trades that have happened so far. The first trade was Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins for a 3rd round pick and TE Hunter Long. Darren Waller was traded to the Giants for a 3rd round pick. The Cowboys traded for Stephon Gilmore for a 5th round pick.
Overall huge names have either been signed or traded. This has been one of the best Free Agency’s. Big trades and big signings all around.
