Students! Remember in elementary school, all the excitement you felt when the teacher mentioned field trips? Remember the fun memories from those field trips? How about recess?! Now high-school, when you go up to high school you lose both recess and field trips for nearly ever. Well we should change that, soon.

I’m not saying “hey take us all the the zoo again.” Im saying that maybe every grade in high-school should go on a special trip. Now some clubs and activities take you on field trips like The Foreign Language Club and sports (softball). Believe it or not some students join those two things just for the “field trips”. The students do not have to go anywhere major.

10-12th graders can go on college visits for their field trips. No where too far away. 9-7th graders could do something very similar in a sense, they could even do the same thing. Honestly it is never too early to figure out what colleges you want to go to and where you want to possibly turn applications for. It is never too late or early to plan your future.

This “field trip” would be a great benefit for every student in those grades. It would help students figure out exactly what they want to do with their lives. The school should do this 2-3 times per year or 2-3 times every other month. Once in the beginning of the year so kids can figure out what classes they may need, again in the middle of the year then lastly at the end of the year. Now if you are in 12th grade and already know what college you want to go to then you do not have to go. If they do it the month way then do it once in the beginning of the month, the middle of the month then closer to the end of the month.

Since most college visits do not cost money it would not be a lot of money, the only thing that would be costly would be the gas but if you simply ask every student to donate 5-15 dollars for gas you should be fine. A way to pick out what colleges to visit is by taking a vote during homeroom. Give students a list of colleges and have them choose 9 colleges. The top 3 will be the colleges they go to first, the second 3 will be the one they go to next month then the last 3 will be the last ones they go to for that year
