Cicadas

Do you hear that outside of your house? Do you see that on your trees? Did you witness that coming out of the ground? Want to know what that is? Well it’s a cicada, those awful bugs that only come out every 16-17 years.  Even though Cicadas are pretty harmless to humans they are still pretty frightening; they make this terrible noise, leave there exo-skeletons everywhere, since there bodies re too big for their wings they fall and land where ever they please. On the plus side they do not last long, they last for a few weeks then die off and wait another 16-17 years, which is pretty nice

Yesterday afternoon, after school, I went to my sisters softball game; well let’s just say by time the game was over I was in the Jeep crying like a three year old whom you just told NO to. What happened was before I got out of the jeep I told my mom how I never seen one face to face or herd one, well I open the door (we parked near a tree) and I looked over and I see this tree covered in Cicadas. You could barely see the bark, now that was not what caused me to cry like a baby. After the game we went back to the car and I was knocking the exo-skeletons off of the tree, just as I did my mom said “One of them are going to jump at you and you are going to scream.” Funny thing was as soon as she said that two of them decided to fly off the tree and land on my leg. I scream very loud and jumped into the car and started to cry.

Cicadas were not as bad as everyone made them out to be. My mom was like “they are so loud, they fly in swarms sometimes.” But I have not herd one yet, or seen a ton of them flying around in a swarm. But either way you look at it they are terrible looking bugs, which could possibly scare you to death. They are on my top 10 list for gross bugs, right under spiders!
