Internet Insider – Advertising to Advertisers
YouTube has recently had a huge change to it regarding their policy changes in early September about the advertisement of videos.
These changes have not only upset YouTube creators but also their millions of fans. This is all over a small notification on a video that says “Not advertiser friendly”. For most of the bigger users on YouTube, YouTube is the main source of income and having a video that a person’s video that took a month worth of effort to make and was supposed to keep the lights on and is suddenly “not advertiser friendly.” This can be completely detrimental to not only their lives but their families as well. However, these changes have been blown completely out of proportion in some factors are not something to worry about.
The main thing that not even most content creators understand is that advertisements work very similarly to something such a billboard on a highway. Advertisers notice that a certain YouTuber gets plenty of constant views so they pay out of pocket to put their ads on videos knowing that the a lot of eyes will see and even take interest in their product and in return the YouTuber gets paid. The last thing that just about nobody understands is that the advertisers are not obliged or forced to pay money to a YouTuber and if they see their advertisement on something that they do not like then they will just simply leave and take their money somewhere else.
A Tweet by a popular YouTuber called John “Totalbiscuit” Brain perfectly summed this up in one sentence by saying “Advertisers don’t want to be associated with people that make others lives miserable for money. Shocking I know.”
These rules and guidelines help maintain the quality of content on YouTube to make sure that the advertisers stay invested which gives your favorite YouTuber money to keep on pumping out videos to entertain you and all of their other fans.
