On September 6th I received an envelope in the mail that held an important letter inside of it. The letter inside was my acceptance letter to Lee University. Before I opened up the envelope I knew beforehand that I got accepted. Printed onto the front of the envelope was, “Congratulations!”, and printed on the back was, “Welcome to the Lee family!”. Even with the beforehand knowledge of knowing I got accepted in the college I wanted to go to it was still extremely exciting to open up the envelope and folder and read my acceptance letter.

The second week of August I went to visit Lee University with my mother and my stepfather. I enjoyed my visit to the university a lot. I enjoyed everything from the school itself to the accessibility to everything around, like grocery stores, clothing stores, and bookstores. I loved the scenery there, the community, and the people. Everything and everybody was so welcoming there. I know that I will love practically everything about going to school at Lee and living in Tennessee whilst going to school there. The next four years after graduation will definitely be exciting and different from living at home with my parents and going to high school.

Before I went to visit Lee University I did not quite know what I wanted to study in college and what I wanted to do/be after college. Choosing what you want to major and minor in is a big decision in college. It is a big decision to make/think about even before going to college. Growing up I always thought I would go to college for piano and then after I graduate I would become a piano teacher. As I got older though I realized that I did not want to become a piano teacher in the future and I did not want to go to college for music at all. Music is something I did not want to major nor minor in, even though I love it with all my heart. When I got to high school I had a thought about going to college for Psychology. After I get my bachelors in Psychology I would then go into the Army to become an Army Psychologist. After taking two psychology classes in high school I realized that I did not want to do that either as it did not actually appeal to me that much.

I came to realize what I want to major in college when I was talking to my brothers wife, Sarah. She went to Lee University after she graduated from high school and studied Intercultural Studies. I realized I would love to do the same thing. I would love to be a missionary. I am a Christian and doing missionary work is a great thing for both myself and the people I would be helping. It would make me feel so accomplished with life knowing I helped someone believe in God.

My family is really happy for me for getting accepted into college. My siblings are proud of me for getting my acceptance letter from Lee, which warms my heart and puts a smile to my face. My mother, father, and stepfather are all extremely proud of me. I am really glad that my family is so happy for me. It is always nice to have a little reminder that your family cares about you.

Lee University was the number one college that I wanted to go to. Seeing that “Congratulation!” and “Welcome to the Lee family!” was such an exciting moment. Reading my acceptance letter brought tears to my eyes and filled me with so much joy. The next four years of my life will be a challenge, but it will all be worth it in the end.
