Online Shopping This Season; 4 Tips to Help You Along The Way

With the holiday season approaching fast, many of you may be struggling to find the perfect gift. Whether the person is too hard to shop for or you just don’t know them that well, there are a few ways that I, the self proclaimed bargain shopaholic, have used to help me out.

  1. Email Subscriptions – Everyone knows the struggle of going online shopping and the second that webpage loads you’re bombarded with ads promoting a discount but you have to put in your email address. They are infuriating and you don’t want those emails clouding up your inbox, but sometimes the 50% off your order is tempting.
    1. Another option you have is to create an email account that you can use only for emails pertaining to shopping purposes. The companies will often send special offers through email, especially as the holidays grow closer.
  2. Make A List- Pull out a pen and paper or a new document on you phone or computer and begin to write down the names of all of those you plan to buy for.
    1. Parents, Grandparents, Siblings, Pets, Friends, Aunts and Uncles, etc. This will aide you in the next tip as well as set your mind at ease.
  3. Cart Overload- Online shopping can be considered a “black hole” of sorts, but it doesn’t have to be.
    1. Start your list by adding every item you like to your online shopping cart. Once you have configured an expansive number in the total region and have scoured the web page for good deals, compare the items and decide which you like best. You may find that having a pen and paper for this may help you as well.
    2. Once you have reached a specific price or quantity of items, then write down everything before purchasing. Click “Checkout” and enjoy your newest transaction.
  4. Track Your Packages- Before you complete your “Checkout” process be sure to confirm your shipping information.
    1. Use the email address you used in Tip 1 to insure you receive the correct tracking number. Most companies send out a tracking number within 5-10 days of your order, so don’t be alarmed if you reach day 7 and haven’t received one.
    2. Locate your package daily until it is in your mailbox or on your doorstep, as sometimes the carriers make mistakes or the company inputs the wrong information.
