The “Born This Way” singer, Lady Gaga performed the halftime show during the Superbowl and received a lot of hate and criticism over her body. Some who watched her halftime performance accused her of having a “pot belly”.

Gaga has shown us time and time again that she will never be one to let the bullies win.

On Tuesday, February 7 Gaga took to Instagram stating, “I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do,” she said. Furthermore she stated, “I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. Thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys.”

Gaga spent months training for the Super Bowl Halftime Show. In a pregame interview with Good Morning America‘s Michael Strahan, the songstress shared her intense training to get her in Super Bowl shape.

“Well I work out a lot and I do Versa-Climbing while I sing,” Gaga said of her demanding workouts. “I’m singing the show while I’m doing it. Because the show is full-on cardio … it’s cardio while singing.”

Though not all comments were harmful, one fan even tweeted, “I wish I had a pot belly. Pot bellies are sexy… Like Madonna when she did lucky star.”

Her energetic performance showed a high level of fitness and many enjoyed the spectacular show. One person wrote in the comments on her Instagram post, “I don’t understand body standards these days. You’re either too skinny or too fat.”
Another said, “Well said. Apart from showing people that it’s ok to be who you want to be, I think you give people hope. All the trolls do is try to destroy and create insecurity. I’d much rather follow your path. Keep rocking.”
