After a recent slump the Pittsburgh Penguins have been in there have been questions arising about how good the management truly is.

The trade deadline for the NHL is in a week and the Penguins have not made one move. They are in need of some new and young players considering they are the oldest NHL team. The bottom six of the roster have also been under preforming. Ron Hextall, the GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has been very hated on this past week on doing nothing about the team, and not giving any other trade information. Many suggest the Penguins give up players for future draft picks to rebuild and start a new beginning for the team. Even Mike Sullivan recently said in an interview that he can only work with what is given to him suggesting he is in need of new players as well. Fans are also very restless  about this situation. Last night, when the Penguins lost 2-7 to the Edmonton Oilers, the fans started to cheer, “Fire Hextall” until the whole arena  joined in.

The Penguins need to do something soon in this week because it will decide the outcome for the rest of the season. Right now the Penguins are not even in a playoff spot, and they have made the playoffs in the last 16 years. The Penguins core just does not seem to be working out with the lines that they have.

The Penguins play the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, February 25th, looking to gain some momentum back after this big slump.
