“Meteora” is the second studio album by Linkin Park. It was released under Warner Bros Records on March 25th, 2023, almost 20 years ago. The album sold over 16 million copies worldwide and over 7 million in the United States alone. The album earned a Grammy nomination and was received positively by critics.

This is the greatest album that’s ever been made. Front to back, back to front, it’s nothing but 13 tracks of perfection. The second greatest album of all time, you might ask? The band’s previous album “Hybrid Theory”. These two albums are the most important albums to ever come out of the nu metal/rap metal genre. Not only are they the two best selling albums from the genre, they’re also some of the few from that era that aged gracefully. But “Meteora” is out of the former’s league. It’s basically an upgraded version of an already perfect album. From lyrics to guitar riffs to vocals to production, it’s beating out “Hybrid Theory” for sure. The best track on the album has to be “Somewhere I Belong”. That song just has such a different feel to it. It’s not even just this album; Linkin Park’s whole catalog hits different after frontman Chester Bennington died of a suicide. It really makes you listen to the lyrics and understand just how much pain he was in. So many people resonate with the band’s lyrical content with the superfan who wrote this article included. Mike Shinoda, the band’s rapper, is probably the best white rapper there ever is. He’s also an incredible songwriter and even a good vocalist as well. “Meteora” is the first album the band features bassist Dave Farrell on and you can definitely tell. Farrell can really play a riff that easily gets implemented in your brain.

Linkin Park is the greatest band that’s ever existed and released the two greatest albums to ever exist. It might just be the bias, but this band will never get old. They offer such a wide range of genres in their discography but “Meteora” is the one that takes the cake. In honor of this band and Chester Bennington, my first tattoo will be dedicated to them.
