Opening day for the MLB is coming soon as spring training for all teams comes to a close and the Pirates are preparing for hopefully a better season.

It has been awhile since the Pirates have had any playoff appearance, but with some young prospect players this year their chances only get better from here. Pirates have also picked up a fan favorite Andrew McCutchen. He was with Pittsburgh for many years until he got traded due to salary issues. He is now a member of the Pirates for one year as a designated hitter. With a batting average of .277 and 287 home runs he was definitely a good pickup to start the season with.

In spring training the Pirates have won a pretty good share of games showing that potential they have for the MLB season. They picked up wins against the Yankees, Cardinals, and other pretty good teams. They hope to carry this momentum over to the regular season to lead them to the playoffs and maybe even more.

Opening day for the Pirates will be on March 30th, at 4:10 PM against the Reds. This is a big time rivalry, and these teams will prove who is better in a three game series. The series after that will be against the Red Sox which will be on April 3rd, at 7:10 PM. This is another 3 game series that they must win in order to lead them to a good season.

Hopefully the Pirates can capitalize on this season moving forward, and give themselves a good chance at making the playoffs later this year.
