The Malawi Project

The Malawi Project

Eva Humphreys, an 11th grader here at Jefferson-Morgan, is collecting empty pill bottles to send to underdeveloped countries that don’t have them (a service program).

If you have any empty pill bottles at your house and would like to donate them then you can bring them to room 207 during homeroom.  Before you hand in the bottles make sure all the labels from the bottle(s) are gone.

The pill bottles you give to Humphreys will be sent out to Malawi, Africa. The Malawi Project is a 501c3 humanitarian organization established in 1999 in the United States. In order to supply humanitarian, medical, educational, food and other aid programs to the nation of Malawi and other Africans nations.

The purpose of the pill bottles is so that they can provide a safe way to give out medication to those who need it. People in Africa are in need of certain medications due to the fact that the medications they currently have are unsafe and can be harmful. By donating pill bottles the ones who need the medication will be receiving the medicine in a much cleaner and safer way. Without the bottles they distribute medication wrapped up in torn pieces of paper. This is often seen in rural hospitals and villages were the poorest of the nation try to live and survive.

Humphreys started this program in mid late October, Humphreys enjoys doing this program because it is for such a great cause. Just one pill bottle can go a long way.  If you would like to help out then give Eva Humphreys your empty, with no labels, pill bottles in the hallway or in room 207 during homeroom.
