Jefferson Morgan Lights Up Blue for Autism Awareness
On Friday, April 2, students and staff wore blue in support of Autism Awareness Month.
Help us “Light the World Up Blue” by purchasing a blue light bulb and using it for your porch light during the month of April.
Did you know that in 2014 1 in 68 children were diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder compared to 1 in 88 in 2012.
Autism is 5 times more likely in boys than girls.
About 10% of children with an ASD also have another genetic, metabolic, or neurologic disorder.
Infants and young children should be screened for development delays at periodic intervals. Early intervention key.
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a wide ranging spectrum. From nonverbal, totally homebound; to high functioning over achievers who lead very productive lives in many professional fields such as doctors, lawyers, actors, authors, teachers, and many more.
The more we learn about Autism, the more we learn about one another!
