Follow Up On, American Horror Story: Trump

We already know that American Horror Story season 7 is going to be about the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Because that is one genuine American horror story folks desperately want to relive, eh?

The series itself was confirmed last October by FX CEO John Landgraf who said, “American Horror Story confronts our deepest fears with unmatched suspense and style. Each new installment is a cultural event, hotly anticipated for its theme, imagery, cast, and twists. We Thank the creators and their team, the cast and everyone who has continued to make American Horror Story such an extraordinary series.”

Murphy visited  Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last Wednesday evening, revealing the stunning game changer that season 7 will be about the U.S. presidential election. Further, it may or may not include Donald Trump as a character. Depending on who you ask, the 45th President of the United States might be the most horrific monster or monster slayer we’ve ever seen.

Still unsatisfied, a few fans and avid watchers of the series still have a few questions, and I hope to answer a few with this article.

“What happened with the end of Roanoke?”, asks a fan on Twitter.

  • While we’re more than a half-year out from the show’s return, the series’ official Twitter account offered a tease for season 7, hinting at the long-rumored “cruise ship” plotline that fans have been whispering about for years. The footage also has a striking resemblance to the opening credits of Dark Shadows (the 1960s soap opera, not the bad Johnny Depp movie), which was a clear influence on the second season of American Horror Story. It also features the stick figures from Roanoke. Could the separate seasons continue to converge? We don’t really know.

“I need a release date pls?!!?!!” says another crazed and clearly excited fan of the series on Twitter.

  • Traditionally, American Horror Story has returned during the first week of October for most of its run. But season 6 saw a change of pace for Ryan Murphy. Not only was it the first year where American Horror Story was merely 10 episodes (as opposed to 12); it was also the only one to premiere in mid-September. This was likely due in part to FX and Murphy’s energies also being diverted in 2016 by American Crime Story. So as it continues, we imagine a shorter and differently scheduled American Horror Story will continue. Hence a good guess about when to expect season 7 would be the Wednesday of Sept. 13, 2017.

“What characters will be returning this season?” asks a fellow American Horror Story fan from Waynesburg, Betty Kline.

  • Ryan Murphy has explicitly stated that the seventh season will revisit characters who, survived season 4’s carnival of terrors. “Next year, we will be going back to some Freak Show characters, deeper histories and mythologies,” Ryan Murphy told EW in 2016. “So we’re sort of still exploring season 4 in season 7.”

“Who will play Trump?” questions another fan on Twitter.

Some, myself included, believe that American Horror Story Season 7 will gain higher viewership if a woman was cast for the role—specifically Kathy Bates. According to the outlet, Bates has already appeared in six seasons of American Horror Story and have been critically-acclaimed for playing the real-life socialite and alleged serial killer from New Orleans Madame LaLaurie in American Horror Story: Coven.

As of now the shows Twitter account is answering a few sparse questions, as they do not want to give away too much of the plot to the viewers before the season releases.
