Within America, Thanksgiving is a holiday that falls on the fourth Thursday of November. It is a holiday for people to give thanks for the harvest and the following year.

Although turkey is a more well known dish at Thanksgiving, many also correlate apple pie with the holiday. Apple pie is often considered as a symbol for America, similar to baseball, hot dogs, and Uncle Sam. Also, apple pie can be used as a sign of prosperity within the country. However, it truly didn’t become the symbol it is today until after World War II as many soldiers were quoted saying they fought the war “for mom and apple pie”. However, the “American” apple pie wasn’t always American.
