Students Should Participate in Physical Activities
High school students should be more active in sports and extra activities in school because it will keep you fit and in shape. Being active can help with academic success.
Participation in sports develops leadership skills and working in groups. A study by the National Federation of State High School Associations found that people that did physical activity did 10% better in math, science, English, and social studies, than people that did little to no physical activity.
Sports also help you manage your time because students that participate in sports do not have as much time to do their school work. High school students who do some kind of physical activity will see their bodies be more fit and toned. A study showed in Minnesota State High School in 2007 that athletes had a higher average GPA of 2.84 and students that did not participate in sports had an average GPA of 2.68. “I find that being active and in sports helps my GPA increase and also it helps me work with people I may not necessarily like,” said freshman Madison Kovach.
Ten random students were asked if they have done any physical activity recently. Of those students, 90% admitted to participating in some kind of physical activity. Most people are active in some way based on the poll of randomly chosen students. High school students do a lot of physical activity like sports or working out. “Working out can make you feel better, but it also can make you improve in the sports you play,” said freshman Justin Silbaugh
High school students should be more active to stay in shape and also because your body needs to be active. Also it helps people with everyday skills like going up steps and not being tired at the top when you finish. “It keeps kids healthy, and teaches them life skills in and out of the classroom,” said Kovach.
In conclusion, high school students who are active can have a better average GPA in school and they will make their bodies feel better. Being active keeps your body healthy and you will feel better about yourself. Also it could potentially help your grades to be better in school and academically.
