Cameron Cernuska is a freshman and is a member of the Waynesburg rifle team.

This is Cameron Cernuska’s first year on the rifle team. He has been practicing ever since 7th grade so that he would be able to compete with some of the older veterans.

When Cameron was asked what is the most difficult thing about rifle he responded, “Everything in rifle happens either very fast or very slow. The most difficult thing about rifle would have to be getting your rifle sighted in good, even though that’s the coach’s job.”

Cameron’s practice in shooting goes all the way back to grade school where he used to shoot at a range quite often. One of the first rifles he shot was a .243 Remington. He’s getting pretty comfortable with shooting precise and accurately for years now and that’s one of his main reasons from trying out for rifle.

“I definitely do plan on continuing through the school year, and years to come in high school with rifle,” said Cameron. Cameron this season has been out-shooting several members who are above his skill level, and grade level. When asked what are some things that newer rifler should do, or practice he responded “No matter how repetitive the practices may seem, always participate in them; after a while rifle will become like second nature.”

The Waynesburg Rifle Team is having one of their best seasons in their history, and all that hard work and dedication could lead the team to WPIAL’s!
