Emily Ozohonish is a senior in high school and is a member of the Waynesburg rifle team.

Ozohonish’s interest in rifle came from the love of the competition and the individual drive the sport requires. Those factors drive her to do her best.

“I like how rifle is an individual sport. So if I mess up, it’s on me.” Ozohonish stated this after being asked what sparked he interest in rifle.

Ozohonish feels her best match this year would be a scrimmage against Butler.

“I scored a 100 10x, which is a perfect score,” Ozohonish stated.

Ozohonish does not have any past family members participate in a rifle team but her younger sister, Abby Ozohonish, will be a part of the team next year as a freshman.

Ozohonish loves being a part of the rifle team. It takes concentration and the ability to stay focused when shooting.

“Rifle is not as easy as what most people think. Rifle takes concentration and the ability to focus. Being able to compete in rifle takes a focused mind,” Ozohonish stated.

Although Ozohonish enjoys rifle and she is a great shooter, she doesn’t plan on continuing rifle after high school, but would like to be a coach someday.

“I will attend Waynesburg University to earn my Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. I will then continue my education through WVU to become a nurse practitioner. I hope to become a coach someday in the future if the opportunity presents itself.”
