Nicole Thomas – Athlete Biography
Nicole Thomas is a sophomore and a member of the softball team.
Thomas has been playing high school softball since freshman year. She plays both left and right field. She has played in the outfield ever since she started playing. Thomas’s motivation and inspiration to play softball comes from her family. Her parents sparked her interest in softball and made her want to play. She thought it would be interesting to follow in their footsteps and see how she liked it.
“I enjoy softball because I love being on a team with others and being on the field. I want to participate because I want to make my teammates proud of me and show them that I love what I do,” said Thomas.
Thomas practices on her own a lot. She says that softball needs a lot of arm and leg strength. It takes much preparation before the season begins. The season did not begin until the middle of March, but Thomas has been attending open gyms since the beginning of January.
“I have never been as successful as I wanted to be yet. My goal this year is to hit a home run, but I still need lots of practice. I’m very happy with this season because I have improved tremendously since my previous years,” said Thomas.
According to Thomas, becoming successful means a lot of practice. She has become a better softball player by practicing. Thomas began practicing a few months prior to the season starting so that she could be successful and feel accomplished. All of the effort in practicing made Thomas a better softball player. She gained confidence she did not had before.
“A successful season to me means that I have put in all the effort I had and done the best I could do. I feel that this year will be very successful because I have improved so much and have a lot of fun with my team,” said Thomas.
Thomas is happy that her friends and family brought her into this sport. She has fun with the sport and enjoys playing it. Thomas played the sport so she could feel good at something. At certain points she wanted to quit, but she never let herself because she is not a quitter.
