I am undecided about whether the government should have the right to demand that a company unlock someones phone or if it is just an invasion of privacy.

The right to forcefully unlock someones phone should be given to the government because it might stop someone who is committing a crime or felony. The reason that they need to get on the person’s phone is that they need information about something that this person was involved in, so that they can try to help solve the case. They need to be able to unlock all phones so that they can prove that this person is guilty. If they cannot get into the person’s phone than they might not have any proof that the person has committed the crime. If they have no evidence then they will have to let them go.

I also think that the government should not be given this right because it is an invasion of a person’s privacy. We bought our phones so that we would be able to do almost anything we want on them. We have the right to to text and search whatever we want. The government has no right to get on the device that we pay for just to search for something that might not even be there.

If someone does not want to unlock their phone then they should not have to. It is their right to do so, there is also no law stating that the government can force a company to unlock the phone.

Reasons that some people might not want their phone to be accessed is because it is an invasion of privacy. What they have to realize is that if you are innocent and have nothing on your phone then you have nothing to worry about. Another reason is that they have private stuff on their phone that they might not want anyone seeing.

I can see the good and the bad in having our phones unlocked, but I am not sure which one I agree with more.
