Beware the Pumpkin Spice!
The fall season has rolled in and, everyone is getting excited about all the festivities that are soon to be happening. I know my mom is excited about the apple picking to make her homemade apple sauce. Getting fresh pickings are always one of my favorite activities to do. To be able to bite an apple right off the tree and have the fresh and not non chemical juices explode in your mouth is an amazing treat. Although, that is not all everyone looks forward to during the most beautiful season of the year.
Many people are excited to bundle up in some of their favorite sweaters, jeans and, scarves. Who does not love an outfit that not only is cute, but, warm and comfortable all at the same time? I for one like when I have an outfit that matches whatever I am going to do that day. Sometimes, a nice scarf to snuggle my face into against the chilly wind, or some fuzzy socks to keep my feet warm. Many times I just enjoy a sweatshirt, leggings, tea and, a nice book to read when I am relaxed.
My favorite part about the fall season is all the festivals. My mom and I went to an apple festival last year and ended up about 2 hours away from where we were actually going. We did eventually make it there no help to the GPS or the horrible directions we got along the way. The festival was full of candy apples, apple pie, apple dumplings and any other apple related food someone could possibly think of. My mom is a huge fan of apples, if our apple themed kitchen could not convince someone, and bought many cute apple related decor while we were there.
My family also went pumpkin picking yet, there is a little twist to the activity. One year we picked the biggest pumpkins we could and judged it against everyone else’s, another year we went pumpkin rolling. All someone had to do was to start rolling pumpkins just like bowling and see which one went the farthest. Now the fun like every kid knows does not stop when they find their perfect pumpkin. Cutting it open and making a silly face or even putting an inspirational quote can be just as fun. My mom and I ended up throwing the pumpkin guts at each other and making a mess of everything. The best part though is when my mom bakes the pumpkins seeds, or makes fresh apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream and the whole family sits down to watch the Halloween countdown.
