Facebook and Snapchat competing?
Facebook’s new update has caused Snapchat and Facebook to become rivalries
The social network built a new messaging and camera feature. Facebook says it will let users share moments as they happen. The camera feature includes a number of optional special effects like facial masks. Like Snapchat, once the photo or video is opened you will have 24 hours to respond to it otherwise it will disappear.
What’s different from Snapchat is that Facebook’s new feature has built this product into its flagship app, the app has 1.7 billion users. Other app who tried to capture the Snapchat magic were presented as standalone apps like Poke and Slingshot. This new camera even comes with a separate inbox inside the core Facebook app, which means you don’t need to use Messenger to send these photos and videos back and forth.
The camera is just a test it is only available in Ireland for now. But ever since CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s attempt at trying to copy Snapchat, Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel has emerged as Facebook’s greatest threat for the next generation of teenagers. This is why Facebook keeps trying to copy Snapchat’s features, such as fun/funny filters to stories and one on one messages.
Snapchat and Facebook continue to compete for the next generation teenagers.
