With 2017 beginning , trend has been created with hot/heated knives slicing objects. A celebrity well known for his amazing work with makeup, Jeffree Star. Star had made a YouTube video featuring Manny Gutierrez (male model for Maybelline) gathering things they treasure to burn with the hot knife. The reasoning for this trend to become so popular is because of the sanctification of burning objects straight through.  The knife burns glorious, fiery, orange red and you can hear inanimate objects make whining sounds as they get sliced open.

The two started out small and burned Jeffree’s Skin Frosts, which sliced right through the pink plastic. Next, they had MAC lipstick that only burned the lipstick but not the carton. The third thing that was sliced through was a beauty blender, but it only went halfway. Lastly, Jeffree took it one step further and got out his Chanel Boy bag, for which he paid around $5,500!

He wanted to be different compared to everyone else slicing through things with the the hot knife plus was curious if it would catch fire. Star had got so much criticism just by burning a Chanel Boy bag that he paid for with his own money.
