Recently, I’ve been searching for a new show to watch since I don’t do much on my spare time. I came across a series on Netflix called Shameless. Shameless is an American comedy-drama television series which airs on Showtime and is now on Netflix.

William H. Macy stars as Frank Gallagher, a single father of six who spends much of his free time drinking at bars and sleeping in the street, never knowing where he may be. The Gallagher children led by oldest daughter Fiona (Emmy Rossum, who takes on much of the child responsibility due to her mother leaving the kids behind and just her mother’s absence manages to raise themselves in spite of Frank’s lack of parenting.)

Frank Gallagher is an alcoholic man who will do anything for money just to get more alcohol rather than helping his family. Shameless has 7 seasons with 12 episodes but Netflix only has up to season 6 which is pretty devastating.  Fiona does everything she can just to make it through each day for the family while Frank is just a drunk, which slowly starting dying in season 4 due to all the alcohol in his liver.

I really enjoy watching Shameless, it shows reality and allows you see witness a family desperately struggle with money finance and go through unthinkable situations that you would never think would happen. But really Shameless is the story of Fiona, but her story is also kind of sad. At 20-something Fiona should be out living her life, but in fact works two unlikeable jobs just to cover the electric bills and put food on the table. She gets no thanks from Frank, and her love life is a disaster because she always puts her family first rather than her love life.  There’s so much more that goes on in Shameless and I highly recommend for others to watch.
