Looking Back Into “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is an science fiction film released in 2013 adapted from Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. This film is the second movie in the four part Hunger Games trilogy. The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark.

The film follows Katniss and Peeta’s victory tour after winning the 74th Hunger Games. As they continue through their tour, they soon realize that the district’s are viewing them as a critical piece in their rebellion. As President Snow notices this, he forces the former victors to once again participate in the Hunger Games as a special for their Quarter Quell in hopes of getting rid of Katniss Everdeen. The film follows Katniss, Peeta, and their allies through the games once more. This film is truly an amazing sequel. The acting pulls the audience in developing a personal connection to the characters. It allows the audience to understand the intense, harsh conditions of the world they are living in. The film forces the audience to want change and cheer on the victors to succeed in changing their nation. There are moments of worry, sadness, and joy. It introduces new characters the audience may need to be cautious of as they are not as trusting as they may seem to be.

The entire trilogy has been released on Netflix, but they are only on the streaming service till March 30th. This is believed to cause stir within the fans as there is a prequel of The Hunger Games series to be released in November 2023.
