Children’s Grief of Awareness Day was created in 2008 by the Highmark Caring Place, A Center for Grieving Children, Adolescents and Their Families, and since recognized by organizations around the world. Children’s Grief Awareness Day is observed every year on the third Thursday in November.

“We did a bunch of activities including making butterflies into snack,” said Savannah Saesan.

Children’s Grief Awareness raises awareness in order to help other people learn ways they might help a grieving child they happen to know. It’s not easy losing a loved one or anyone close to you especially at a young age.

“It was a great experience and to be able to represent Jefferson-Morgan,” said Savannah Saesan.

Before students  graduate from high school, one child out of every 20 will have a parent die. A reason to raise awareness is that many people don’t realize that it takes most children much longer to deal with their grief than we expect. Children Grief of Awareness raises awareness to help the children’s broken hearts.
