Students should participate in more Volleyball activities because it is a great way to burn calories and have fun.

Students should play more volleyball activities because volleyball is a fun physically challenging sport, as it is a fun way to burn calories, it is a sport that exercises many parts of the body and it allows players to develop skills to work well with others. Volleyball also improves balance, hand- eye coordination, reflexes and it also helps burn calories.

Freshmen Jasmine Smitley says,” Volleyball seems like it would be a mental workout. It seems like this because it requires a lot of concentration. When someone is concentrating their rate of reaction time goes up.”

One statistic that states volleyball involves mental work is when the pressure is on; volleyball players have to rise to the occasion. Mentally tough athletes never shrink on a challenge or hope that the ball goes somewhere on the line. Mentally tough athletes know how to push themselves beyond their own limits to achieve their goal and if the need arises.

Freshmen Madison Kovach says, “I think it’s something everyone should have to go through working as a team because it gives you good life skills.”

One position that uses a lot of fast and mental work is the middle. The middle is a very important position because the middle hitters are responsible for a lot of blocking and they have to think where they go before the ball comes back over the net.

Julie Kline, a sophomore said, “The person in the middle seems like they do a lot of work considering they have to block when the ball comes over the net, then hurry to the ten foot line to hit the ball back over the net to the other side of the net again.”

The middle position is a great position because not everyone can be middle; the middle is usually based off of who is the tallest on the team, plus the middle gets to hit the ball a lot and it keeps the player active and aware of your surroundings.
In conclusion, students should play volleyball whether it is a team effort or just a simple day of gym. Volleyball can really help students gain different skills. Volleyball is a great way to learn new things, meet new people and help burn calories.  http://livehealthy.chron.com/volleyball-good-exercise-2606.html.
