JM Student Council Participates in Kickball Tournament to Help Benefit Colby’s Stars Foundation
On February 12th, the Jefferson Morgan Student Council participated in a kickball tournament at Printscape Arena, to benefit the Colby’s Stars Foundation.
Every year, Jefferson Morgan Student Council members attend the Student Forum to talk and come up with new ideas for school improvement and fundraisers. Student councils from different districts in Greene, Fayette, and Washington counties, meet at the Student Forum to collectively figure out an idea for a service project that will benefit a certain cause or foundation. This year, they chose to have a kickball tournament for the Colby’s Stars Foundation. All players were required to have a minimum pledge of $10 to participate. The event had many sponsors, and also a Chinese auction. Each school that participated donated a basket for the auction.
The event turned out to be a huge success. In total, they raised $2,500 dollars. A big thanks went out to Jefferson Morgan Student Council member Brynn Boyd, for helping organize the event. “This is something that means a lot to my family and me, I was so happy to see what a success it was,” said Boyd.
