The Envirothon
The Envirothon is a hands-on environmental problem solving competition for high school students in the United States and Canada. Mrs. Karen Cox (Environmental and Earth Science Teacher) and Mrs. Suzanne Boyle are in charge of the Envirothon. (Middle School Science Teacher) Teams complete training and testing in five natural resource categories such as soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife, and current environmental issues.
The Greene County Envirothon is organized each year by the Greene County Conservation District. The Greene County Envirothon is funded through a grant from the Community Foundation of Greene County’s Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit program and CONSOL Energy. Each student on the team gains $500 college scholarship.
If students are interested, please see Mrs. Cox or Mrs. Boyle for more information.
