Elijah Saesan is a freshman and a part of the basketball team.

Since Saesan is a freshman, he is very excited for his first year and everything high school sports have to offer. He has high expectations for himself and hopes this year goes smoothly.

“I want to play every varsity game. Since I am a freshman, I am excited to play with the varsity team,” Saesan said. “I also want our team to have a winning season.”

Saesan, like every athlete, has his favorite and least favorite part of this. Many times there are difficult times during a season. An athlete needs to be able to overcome those times in order for them to get better and take the good times in stride.

“My favorite part is hanging out with the guys because they always make everything enjoyable,” Saesan said. “Although, I do not like conditioning, because there is a lot of running.”

Many athletes have a favorite teammate and try to follow in their footsteps. He looks up to Diari Davis, a senior, on the team.

“I look up to Diari because he is a very funny guy and loves to play the game,” Saesan said.

Every school has a team that they look forward to playing the most. Saesan’s favorite team is Carmichaels, because Jefferson has a long time rivalry with them.

“When I was younger, people said because I was tall I should play basketball. I tried it one year and ever since I have played year after year,” said Saesan.

His inspiration does not come from his family, but from a lot of the comments from other people.
