What is St. Patrick’s Day?
This Sunday, March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day. The truth of this holiday is that people do not know the true meaning of why we celebrate.
Most people see St. Patrick’s Day as a day to wear green and celebrate being Irish, but there is more to it. St. Patrick’s Day is set to celebrate the life of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland, who was kidnapped at the age of 16. A voice cam to him in his sleep and told him to escape. After escaping, St. Patrick became a missionary and is praised in Ireland. March 17th is the day chosen to celebrate because it was his death date.
This holiday is traditionally celebrated in countries with Irish decent, but everyone can enjoy the holiday and their Irish spirit.
