On Sunday, February 4th, the 66th Annual Grammy Awards took place. The event occurred in Los Angeles, California at the Crypto.com Arena at 5 PM PST. It was hosted by Trevor Noah and a lot of history was made that night. From the youngest Grammy winner yet (just 2 years old!) to Taylor Swift winning a record-breaking fourth Album of the Year, it’s safe to say it was a night for the books. Various performances took place from musicians like Luke Combs, Travis Scott, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, and others. Now, let’s take a look at the “Big 4” winners.

Taylor Swift took home Album of the Year for “Midnights”, and she made history in that moment. She became the first artist to ever be awarded for this category four times. She recently won in the category for her album “folklore” in 2021, and her other albums “1989” and “Fearless” won Album of the Year in 2014 and 2009 respectively. It was a very competitive category, with other album’s like SZA’s “SOS” and Lana Del Rey’s “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” being nominated as well. Record of the Year was awarded to Miley Cyrus for “Flowers”. In fact, Cyrus won her first two Grammys that night, taking home Best Pop Solo Performance for the same song as well. “Flowers” was arguably the biggest hit song of 2023, so it’s safe to say she was pretty deserving of this award. This category consisted of strong competitors as well, such as Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero”, SZA’s “Kill Bill”, and Olivia Rodrigo’s “vampire”. For Song of the Year, Billie Eilish took this one home with “What Was I Made For?”. The song is widely known for being featured in the “Barbie” movie, and ended up becoming a big hit single for Eilish. Some other nominees in this category included Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night” (which is from the same movie), Lana Del Rey’s “A&W”, and Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers”. And last but not least, Best New Artist went to Victoria Monét. She saw herself receiving a total of seven nominations at the ceremony and won three of them. So, it was safe to say this one was guaranteed to be hers. Monét is also widely known not just for her music, but also writing for high-profile musicians like Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, and BLACKPINK.

That concludes the “Big 4” winners of this year’s Grammy Awards, the biggest night in music. The ceremony this year saw its largest viewership since 2020, up 16.9% from last year’s. Many artists won their first Grammy(s) that night while others made history and won even more. Before we know it, the 67th Annual Grammy Awards will be here and even more artists will make history that we might not expect in 2025.
