Jamie Lawrence is a sophomore and participates in the long jump, 4×1(100 relay), 100m, and throws javelin on the Jefferson-Morgan track team.

Jamie participates in many events on the Jefferson-Morgan track team. Her favorite event that she participates in is throwing javelin. This is Jamie’s second year in participating in this sport. Jamie has lettered in this sport. She has lettered once and hopes to letter again this year. Jamie plans on participating in track again next year. When asked if she had always wanted to participate in track, she said, “I wasn’t sure if I was going to participate because of softball but I’m glad that I did.”

Jamie is really looking forward to the upcoming season. She really enjoys this sport. Jamie thinks that it is fun and she likes throwing javelin. One of Jamie’s favorite memories from track is when they went to Quaker Steak and Lube. Jamie really wants the girls team to win another meet.

A superstition/ritual that Jamie has is that if she does really good in a meet, she will wear the same socks and spandex for the next meet. Being that Jamie has participated in this sport in years past, she has observed how the team has changed from last season to this. Jamie said, “We lost a lot of throwers and some good sprinters last year.” Jamie prepares for the sport by practicing in the events she will participate in.

Advice that Jamie would like to pass on to upcoming athletes is to be sure to always go to practice. I would like to wish Jamie good luck in her high school career of track along with the rest of the track team. I hope Jamie achieves all that she would like to.
