Cancellations and Delays

Winter break is now over and school has started back up for students. But that does not stop the winter weather. This is the time of year when all the delays and cancellations begin to happen for schools because of the extremely cold temperatures, icy roads, and the layers of snow covering the ground. Sometimes weather like that cancelling more school can seem to extend winter break, which makes the students happy. This can be a positive thing and a negative thing. It is nice to get delays because you get an extra 2 hours of sleep or whatever else you prefer to do during that time. Delays also cause classes at school to be shortened and sometimes even taken out completely of your schedule for that day. Also, you do not have to make the delays up. Cancellations are nice because you get a free day off of school to do whatever you choose. Some people like to go out and play in the snow that caused them to be off school. The bad thing about cancelations is that you have to make them up. Most schools already have set make-up days for things like this. But if it happens to use up all the make-up days and still have some that need to be made up, they push school further into summer. Summer break is quite short as it is and it would be awful to have to continue school during it and make it even shorter.
