Riley Payo- Athlete Biography

Riley Payo is a freshman and a member of the cheerleading squad.

Riley enjoys cheering in the high school rather than for the middle school or elementary. “I enjoy high school because we get to do more than the elementary and junior high.” Since beginning to cheer for the high school Riley has enjoyed the togetherness of the team and the aspect of more activeness in the school. She is really looking forward to cheering at the homecoming game.

Riley sometimes finds certain aspects of cheerleading difficult. For example, she finds it important to always make it to practice due to the fact it is hard to pick up on the cheers that you missed out on learning. She feels it is easier to learn with the team rather than when you must pick up on them yourself. She also found some difficulties during the Jefferson-Morgan Cheer Camp this summer.

Riley has made a lot of new friends and memories in her first year of varsity cheerleading. “My favorite memory of the season so far was my stunt group learning how to do a twist down mount.” Football is her favorite sport to cheer for, and enjoys when they can perform their stunts at the game.

This is Reily’s seventh year of cheerleading. Her first year of varsity cheerleading has been the most memorable. She plans on continuing to cheer throughout the rest of her high school career.
