Nicholas E. Miller is a Marine for the United States.  He had served overseas in Afghanistan and many other countries, and had come home alive. The struggles he had to endure to become who he is today are struggles shared by all of the people who fight for the freedom of our great country.

Nick Miller stated, “A best moment would be touching your feet on the grounds of America after coming back from war.”

Nick Joined the Marines for different reasons than most people. He saw it as a kind of challenge, something to test his strengths.  He would initiate boot camp at Paris Island South Carolina after he graduated high school. After completion of boot camp he would go to Fort Geiger to take advanced training. Here he would choose join the Infantry, mainly because he wanted a challenge to test himself.  He would train as an Assault man and learn how to use rockets, demolitions and breaching charges. He would find out that he would have to be sent to Afghanistan and would first go to California to get adjusted to warmer weather. He would go Afghanistan for an eight month tour running patrols and help training the people to help fight their own terrorists. He would live and fight with men who would become very close friends to him. After his tour he would come home to the country he protected.

Nick Miller stated about the people he served with, “We are not just friends but brothers.”

Nick explained that all people who join the armed forces show courage, bravery, and self-sacrifice, because no ordinary person could go through the hardships that they go through. Nick showed the true strength of the military. All should be recognized for the hardships that they endure not just the ones that get seen.
