Wrestling is a World Wide Event for Teasdale

Gavin Teasdale has traveled around the world for wrestling, and has been training his entire life to get to this point in his career.

This past summer, Gavin trained for multiple wrestling tournaments for his wrestling team, Young Guns. Gavin performed in a world-wide tournament in Bosnia in August.  As part of the UWW Cadet World team, Gavin participated in the six day tournament.

“My favorite place was Bosnia. Although it did not go as planned, I expect myself to be back in Bosnia to compete for the World Championship next year,” said Gavin.  “While I was in Bosnia, I got to sight see a lot when I had down time and spent time with my friends who also wrestle.”

Gavin has been training for six years to get to this point in his career. He decided at a young age that he wanted to wrestle, so he started learning about the sport. His dad, a former wrestler, has helped him get into shape and learn the fundamentals of wrestling.

“My goal is to be a world champion and an Olympic champion. All the training that happens in the off-season helps me with my school season,” said Gavin. “The worst part about wrestling is cutting weight and training when you are cutting weight. Wrestling has taught me mental and physical toughness.”

In May, Teasdale took home a gold medal at the Pan American Junior Championships in Cuba.
