JM Students Take ASVAB Test

ASVABS stands for The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. The ASVAB  is a multiple choice test, administered by the United States Military Entrance Processing Command, used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces. Jefferson Morgan High School sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to take the ASVAB in order to determine if they qualify for the armed forces.

The ASVAB test is a timed test.  Students have the following times for each section of the test:  General Science 25 questions in 11 minutes, Arithmetic Reasoning – 30 questions in 36 minutes,Word Knowledge  – 35 questions in 11 minutes, Paragraph Comprehension – 15 questions in 13 minutes, Mathematics Knowledge – 25 questions in 24 minutes, Electronics Information  – 20 questions in 9 minutes, Automotive and Shop Information – 25 questions in 11 minutes, Mechanical Comprehension – 25 questions in 19 minutes.

Kailin Foster plans to join the Air Force. Kailin said he has to take the ASVABS two times. Fosters says his weakest subject was the Mechanical Part.

Another student who took the ASVAB was Joe Confortini.  Joe wants to join the Air National Guard. Joe plans to pay for his college education by entering the military.  He plans to study engineering.

“The math part was fairly easy out of the entire test,” Confortini said.
