There are many plausible reasons as to why a student should take high school seriously; however, some reasons are more important than others, such as getting into a good college. Whenever a senior graduates and becomes an independent young adult, they have the option to go to college and get a degree. The GPAs that they had received throughout the later years in high school, and the classes that they have taken, too, can heavily determine whether or not a person can make it into the college that they desire. Nowadays, students tend to forget this, or simply state that, once in college, their GPA would not matter anyways.

If college is not a good reason for a student to do well in high school, then privileges would be. If a student’s GPA drops below a certain point, then it is entirely possible for that student to lose privileges, such as sports, trips, or clubs. However, this is not a negative subject entirely; students can get such high GPAs that they are offered more privileges and opportunities than a student with a lower one, so it is also a good idea to get a higher GPA than average and not one to “get by” with.

If nothing about school or college interests a student, then it is also possible to do well in school for future knowledge or reference. One day, that student may be in a situation that their high school educations could come in handy, whether it be health, math, english, or so on. Many subjects in high school can be applied to real-life situations, so going for higher education is not the only reason to do well.

Overall, a student should try their best in school to help better themselves and aim towards a better future, whether it be clear or vague.
