There are handfuls of schools in the world that require their students to wear school uniforms. There are handfuls of jobs that do not let their employees have certain things like tattoos, piercings, colored hair, certain types of clothing, etc. There are certain places that when you go there you’re not allowed to have those certain things or wear certain types of clothing. To me, I don’t like that at all. I hate the idea of school uniforms. I hate the idea of having to make someone hide the things (tattoos and piercings) that make them themselves.

When schools require their students to wear a uniform they are taking away their uniqueness. Putting children and teens into school uniforms makes them all the same in the way they look (clothing and accessory wise). No one is different, it is all the same one after another after another. When people are not in uniforms and they dress the way they want to, the diversity is plain as day. And that is good. Diversity in people is beautiful and and astonishing. How could anyone be unique and different if everyone is the same?

There can be a ton of different reason as to why a person gets a tattoo or gets a piercing. Some people would never think of getting a tattoo whilst other people have tattoos up and down their entire body. Tattoos make people themselves. They can make people unique and different in ways. Some tattoos that people have have meaning to them and have a story behind it. My brother has a tattoo on his upper arm of one of the Coats of Arms of Ireland (the harp) for our mother because we are Irish. My dad has a back tattoo of St. George killing a dragon because he’s Orthodox. But there are people who have some tattoos that don’t really have a special meaning to them. Sometimes people get tattoos just to have them, and that’s not really a bad thing. People also get piercings, and those can also make someone unique and different. When people make others hide their tattoos and their piercings which is making that person hide their self. I don’t like that.

We are different from everyone else in the world. Everyone is different from the people around them. Even identical twins can be completely different. Diversity is good though. It is a beautiful thing. Being different and showing your true self is a wonderful thing to do. Hiding ones true self keeps away the unique you that people need to see.
